Welcome to the Portland Otologic Clinic
State of the Art Treatment for Dizziness, Hearing Loss and Tinnitus

POC News

Dr. Epley and the staff at Portland Otologic Clinic are committed to our patients. Very often our patients must come to the clinic many times for treatment and testing. A relationship between the staff and the patient is formed. This relationship is very important to the staff and to Dr. Epley. It makes the work we do even more rewarding. With the New Year it is time to share some of our accomplishments of 2003 what is new for 2004.

Congratulations Dr. Epley!

Dr. Epley, in association with Vesticon Incorporated, has been awarded a generous Small Business Innovations Research grant from the National Institute of Health. This grant includes modifications and improvements to our famous Omniax chair. With these modifications the assessment and treatment of BPPV can continue to improve into the 2lst century.

A New Provider in the Family

Dr. Epley is pleased to announce the addition of Seth Wittner, PA-C to the Portland Otologic Clinic Staff. Having another medical provider in our clinic will allow us to be more available to our patients, with less waiting when you need an appointment. As a Physician Assistant, Mr. Wittner will be providing diagnosis and treatment to patients with a variety of complaints, from dizziness to impacted wax. In addition to his clinical skills, Mr. Wittner is an accomplished musician and speaks fluent Norwegian.

VEMP Testing

Portland Otologic Clinic has a new tool to assist in the diagnosis of vestibular disorders. The Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potential, or VEMF test, can help determine which ear is the likely source of your symptoms of imbalance or vertigo. This test involves the latest technology and we are proud to have it available to serve our patients.

Support Group

The Vestibular Disorders Support and Education Group, facilitated by Sarah Movius, LCSW, continues to meet on the third Monday of each month. These meetings provide a non-threatening forum for patients and their families to talk about living with a vestibular disorder. The February 16th group will focus on "When Helpers Aren't Helpful". On March 15th, the group will discuss how vestibular disorders can affect your career. Updated group information can be found on our Vestibular Disorders Support Group web page.

Did yon say Hearing Aids?

You may not know that Portland Otologic Clinic is an outstanding resource for hearing aids. Under the direction of Dr. Jennifer Sowards, our audiology department can help fit you with hearing aids that are right for your particular hearing loss. This service is available to the general public as well as our current patients. Recommend our hearing aid service to your family and friends with hearing loss, they will be in good hands.
